How much should you tip?
In the United States, a tip of 15–20% of the pre-tax bill is standard for table service. For exceptional service many people tip 20% or more; for poor service, 10–15%.
How it's calculated
Tip = bill × tip% . Total = bill + tip. Per person = total ÷ number of people. Adjust the percentage and split to match your situation.
